In this first phase of COVID re-entry, training is allowed in small groups and physical distancing must be maintained. Registered athletes will be placed in our Squadron Excellence in Training Program which will consist of Squadron Groups with a target number of 8 athletes per group. Squadrons will consist of athletes of similar age and tumbling/jump ability.
Veteran Mavericks will be assigned Squadrons based on coach recommendations, while new Mavericks will be required to submit a skill video for assessment and placement on a Squadron. Squadrons will be assigned a 1-hr in-gym training timeslot on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening during which they will work to safely rebuild their tumbling and jump skills and strengthen their fitness alongside a dedicated coach. Squadrons will also be assigned a 1-hr midday Virtual Training timeslot on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday where they will receive coach-led at-home training with drills developed specifically to target skills that the athletes need to work on. Athletes will receive feedback during virtual classes from coaches and be provided with offline “homework” to help condition their bodies for returning to the full demands of cheerleading.
